Sensors
Discovery and Innovation
Sensors are an
increasingly critical component of semiconductor applications. Sensor research at
universities will be instrumental in generating new ideas for applications in the fields
of medicine, surveillance, environmental protection, chemical analysis and radiation
detection, just to name a few.
This research cuts across multiple disciplines and will require a new skill set for students knowledgeable in semiconductor technology and the specific science around the sensor application itself. Highly-trained graduates possessing the unique skills required for implementing sensors in industry products will be an important result of this research.
