SRC 2024 Champion Award

Presented to Chih-Ming Hung, MediaTek

Dr. Chih-Ming Hung's association with SRC goes back to his graduate school days as an SRC Research Sholar on Project 885, when Prof. Ken O, current TxACE Chair at UT Dallas, supervised his work.

After receiving his Ph.D. in 2000, Dr. Hung joined Texas Instruments, where he cultivated a strong 10-year engagement with SRC as both liaison and advisory board member. With deep technical expertise in CMOS RF, from sub-6GHz to millimeter-wave region, Hung has guided the analog/mixed-signal research community in adopting digital RF processor technology.

Since 2011, Dr. Hung has been with MediaTek, advocating for and mentoring educators, researchers, and students globally in RF and wireless technologies for 5G and beyond. In 2021, with Dr. Hung’s enthusiastic support, MediaTek joined SRC, expanding the wireless research portfolio to include East Asian faculty and scholars. Dr. Hung constantly motivates his company liaisons to take an active part in SRC research, encourages many graduates to pursue careers in wireless technology industries, and benefits many SRC member companies, including TI, Qualcomm, Analog Devices, and Qorvo.

In addition to championing SRC's GRC and JUMP 2.0 research programs, Dr. Hung was an invaluable asset in the development of the Microelectronics and Advanced Packaging Technologies Roadmap.
