Biography: Boris Balacheff

Boris Balacheff is a Distinguished Technologist at HP Labs in the Security and Cloud Lab. Specialized in the areas of trusted systems design and infrastructure security technologies, his research focuses on delivering security to increasingly cloud-based and highly mobile businesses. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) and co-chairs its Certification Program Committee. Boris also works across HP business units to drive security technology strategy and product security innovation.

Boris’s research has ranged from cryptographic algorithms and protocols to networking and computer security. Early in his career, he sat on the Technical Committee of the smartcard-focused PC/SC working group. He is also one of the early contributors to the invention of Trusted Computing technology, and he co-authored the HPLabs’ book on this topic. He served on the Technical Committee of the Trusted Computing Platform Alliance (TCPA) that led to the first TCG specifications. Boris Balacheff joined HP Labs in 1997 with a French “Diplôme d’Ingénieur” degree in applied mathematics and computer science.
