Biography: Binquan Luan

Binquan Luan is a research staff member in IBM computational biology center. He received his PH. D. in physics from Johns Hopkins University, after visiting the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of California Santa Barbara as a graduate fellow. After postdoctoral training in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he joined IBM T. J. Watson research center as a research scientist and subsequently became a staff member in the group of soft matter theory and simulation. He has received IBM invention achievement award. His current research is focused on nanoscale mechanics and energetics in a biological or biomimetic system.
