SpiNNaker: large-scale real-time neural simulation

SpiNNaker has been designed to support very large-scale biologically-realistic spiking neural network models that run in biological real time. It is now in widespread use, with 100 hardware systems delivered around the world and 1,000 jobs run through the Human Brain Project ‘collaboratory’. However, most of the use to date has been for small-scale networks, using less than 1% of the capacity of the 500,000-core machine. It is time to start thinking big!
