SRC/SIA Webinar: Decadal Plan for Semiconductors: New Trajectories for Communication
Presentation Recording and Answers to Submitted Questions
Purpose
The current state of the developed world is characterized by (almost) always-available connectivity. The ability to get data from anywhere and send it to everywhere has transformed the way we do business and our personal habits and lifestyle. In addition, the increasing demand for human-to-human, human-to-machine, and machine-to-machine communications, and a growing gap between the world’s data storage need and communication capacities require a communication rate of 1Tbps@<0.1nJ/bit achieved over the next two decades. The main goal of the webinar is to identify a compelling research agenda based on the Decadal Plan for Semiconductors to discover new approaches to future communication technologies that can enable such a rate and guarantee ubiquitous connectivity.
