Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Retention
- Drive innovative membership recruitment and retention strategies to build a thriving, diverse member network
- Build credibility and influence partnerships with industry leaders, government entities, academia, and other stakeholders.
- Lead efforts to secure membership agreements and letters of commitment.
- Organize and manage outreach and member-focused events.
Member Engagement and Support
- Serve as a trusted advisor providing expertise on semiconductor R&D practices, technologies, and challenges.
- Address member inquiries and follow up to improve satisfaction and deepen engagement.
- Actively manage communications and gather feedback to refine membership services.
Reporting and Analysis
- Track member engagement levels, providing data-driven insights and key metrics to leadership.
- Offer industry knowledge to address technical and strategic challenges within the semiconductor landscape.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8-10 years experience in membership management, business development, or client relationship roles within the semiconductor or a related technology sector.
- Proven ability to implement strategic initiatives and achieve membership growth targets.
- Demonstrated skill in establishing credibility and influencing diverse stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor R&D, including technology trends and industry pain points.
- Experience participating in or organizing industry events, including speaking or panel discussions.
Qualifications Preferred
- Familiarity with federal grant compliance or cooperative agreement processes.
- Experience in non-profit organizations or industry consortia.
Shared Capabilities Manager
Reports To Chief Digital Officer
Location: Prefer candidate to be in one of the following locations: Durham, NC; Albany, NY; Idaho Falls, ID

POSITION SUMMARY
The Shared Capabilities Manager is tasked with overseeing all elements related to shared capabilities, including assets at physical facilities, computational infrastructure, institute expertise, and EWD digital twin tools for the Semiconductor Manufacturing and Advanced Research with Twins USA Institute (“SMART USA” or “Institute”).
Key responsibilities encompass supporting the development of a collaborative ecosystem to drive shared advancements, achieving operational objectives, evaluating future capability needs, and ensuring the effectiveness of the Institute’s capabilities. The manager will also identify innovative solutions, focusing on mitigating barriers for academia, small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs), and small-to-medium manufacturers (SMMs) seeking entry into the Institute. The role entails assisting the Institute in understanding, integrating, realigning, and applying the total enterprise ability or capacity to achieve strategic and operational goals.
By utilizing data and analyses, the Shared Capabilities Manager will provide feedback to management to help identify and prioritize investment opportunities for new capabilities or upgrades to existing ones. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with the operations team to assist with contract negotiations and agreements, including access to shared facilities or computational resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage all facets of the Institute’s shared capabilities, including physical facilities, computational infrastructure, and digital twin tools. Key responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and execution of contracts with shared facility owners
- Oversee distribution and availability of shared tools and manage member access
- Determine what facilities are needed to effectively meet the institute’s objectives and secure partnerships with facility owners and operators.
- Support operational structure and provide feedback on investment roadmap
- Educate stakeholders and potential members of shared capabilities
- Collect and manage analytics for data-driven decisions and reporting
- Provide feedback to governing bodies as requested
- Regularly monitor gaps and implement improvements
- Establish policies, best practices, and performance metrics for shared resources
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related technical field
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, design, or operations preferably with a focus on advanced tools and technologies
- Experience developing partnerships and contracting services
- Demonstrated experience in deploying technology platforms, asset capabilities or similar
- Proven experience managing projects including multi-disciplinary teams and client relationships
- Experience with analytics, data tracking/management and reporting machine learning, and AI applications in semiconductor manufacturing
- Familiarity with semiconductor-specific standards and protocols
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
- Experience in non-profit or consortia organization
- Familiarity with federal grant compliance or cooperative agreement processes
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position will require regular attendance in an office in Durham, NC, Albany, NC or Idaho Fall, Idaho
- Requires up to 20% travel to corporate office, client site, training or conferences
- Sedentary/stationary position. Must be able to remain in stationary position for prolonged periods (up to 90% of time) with occasional movement around office environment
- Requires frequent use of computer for extended viewing of computer monitor (at least xx% of time) and repetitive use of a keyboard and some phone activity
