Nexans, Semiconductor Research Corporation and Carnegie Mellon University to present update on $5 million Energy Research Initiative at GridWeek 2010

Washington, DC — Nexans, Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC), the world’s leading university-research consortium for semiconductors and related technologies, and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) are among the partners in a new $5 million initiative dedicated to enabling reliable, affordable, energy efficient systems. The Energy Research Initiative (ERI) project joined companies from semiconductors and other energy-related sectors with university research centers to address the world's need for smart alternative energy sources and prepare students with the technical skills required for the burgeoning industry.

During a media briefing at GridWeek 2010, officials from Nexans, SRC, and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) will provide an update on the initiative. The discussion will cover details of the CMU Smart Grid Research Center established to support the incorporation of renewable energy resources and provide modeling, simulation and control tools needed to manage, optimize and secure the power grid.
