20-Jul-2015

DURHAM, NC, July 17, 2015 – Semiconductor Research Corporation team members attended the Freescale Technology Forum June 20-24 in Austin, Texas, to spotlight SRC’s role as the world’s leading university-research consortium for semiconductor technologies.

The event provided an opportunity for SRC to interact with industry partners and share its recently expanded research efforts in advanced connectivity.

“The Freescale Technology Forum offers an ecosystem focused on meeting the challenges and opportunities related to the Internet of Things, from new markets to evolving technologies. In short, it’s an ideal environment for SRC to learn and participate as we explore new research directions,” said Ken Hansen, SRC president and CEO.

SRC hosted a booth highlighting its university research programs at the forum, where more than 2,500 attendees from around the globe gathered to participate in training and hear about the latest technical innovations in connected devices.

“This was a great opportunity to showcase the impact of Freescale’s university research collaborations though SRC,” says Kevin Kemp, director of external research and development at Freescale. “FTF is Freescale’s largest training and technology forum attended by current and future customers, technologists, architects, designers, executives, industry analysts and members of the media. The SRC display at FTF allowed us to show examples of university research that are helping to drive future technologies and capabilities for Freescale’s products and also provided SRC with exposure to a wide community of potential members and partners.”

The forum featured nearly 200 product and solution experts across various industry tracks, 350 hours of training made up of more than 150 technical sessions and more than 250 product and technology demonstrations.

Celebrating more than 30 years of collaborative research for the semiconductor industry, SRC defines industry needs, invests in and manages the research that gives its members a competitive advantage in the dynamic global marketplace. Awarded the National Medal of Technology, America’s highest recognition for contributions to technology, SRC expands the industry knowledge base and attracts premier students to help innovate and transfer semiconductor technology to the commercial industry.
