Two Semiconductor Research Corporation Directors Named as IEEE Fellows

Kwok Ng and Jeff Welser Are Latest from SRC to Receive IEEE Professional Honor

Dec 15, 2010

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC), the world's leading university-research consortium for semiconductors and related technologies, today announced that directors Kwok Ng and Jeff Welser have been named IEEE Fellows.

Ng, Director of Device Sciences at SRC, enters the IEEE Fellows class of 2010 for “contributions to the optimization of intrinsic parasitics in metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor design.” Welser, Director of the Nanoelectronics Research Initiative at SRC, will enter the IEEE Fellow class of 2011 on Jan. 1 for “leadership in emerging device technologies for computer applications.”

The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth of one-percent of the total voting membership. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.

Ng and Welser join several others on the SRC team to receive IEEE Fellow recognition, including President/CEO Larry Sumney, Executive Vice President Steve Hillenius, Chief Scientist Ralph Cavin, Senior Research Scientist James Hutchby and Director of Computer Aided Design and Test, William Joyner.

“Being named an IEEE Fellow is a prestigious honor, and SRC is pleased that Kwok and Jeff have been recognized for their efforts as we collectively collaborate as an industry to advance technology,” said Sumney.
