Overview

The Design Thrust unifies four critical research areas—Artificial Intelligence Hardware, Analog/Mixed-Signal Circuits, Computer-Aided Design and Test, and Hardware Security—into a comprehensive effort to enable secure, efficient, and intelligent computing systems. This integrated approach addresses challenges from edge devices to cloud infrastructure, spanning applications in data centers, automotive, industrial, healthcare, and ubiquitous sensing.

Together, these focus areas aim to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for future computing ecosystems, ensuring reliability, energy efficiency, and resilience against emerging threats.

Key Focus Areas

  • AI Hardware: Power-efficient architectures, HW/SW co-design, system-level modeling, and fairness and robustness in AI systems.
  • Analog/Mixed-Signal: Innovations in power delivery, wireless/wireline communication, mm-wave/THz circuits, data conversion, and sensor integration.
  • CAD and Test: Advanced verification, test methodologies, system and physical design tools, and functional safety techniques to accelerate productivity and design correctness.
  • Hardware Security: Strategies and tools for trustworthy chip and system design, including real-time attack mitigation, counterfeit detection, security verification, and enabling security by design.
