2019 Simon Karecki Award

2019 Karecki Winner

This Award is given in memory of Dr. Simon Karecki, who was a student in our Engineering Research Center program and an SRC Fellow. Simon made major contributions in the early years of this Center through his pioneering research in developing novel manufacturing technology for reduction of emission global warming gases in semiconductor manufacturing. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, friends and colleagues of Simon came together and created the Simon Karecki Fellowship Fund in his memory to encourage other talented young researchers in the pursuit of environmental research.

Both Anna and Richard Karecki have long been dedicated to the Engineering Research Center program. They continue to consider all the recipients of this award to be part of their family and always welcome opportunities to engage with those who are as passionate about what they do as their Simon was.

SRC is proud to honor Kalyani Jog with the 2019 Simon Karecki Award.

Kalyani Jog is a graduate student in the Chemical and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Arizona, working with Professor Reyes Sierra Alvarez. Before coming to the University of Arizona, Kalyani studied and obtained her undergraduate degree at the Institute of Chemical Technology in India. Not only is Kalyani an outstanding student with an impressive 4.0 GPA pursuing a degree in environmental engineering, she is also a researcher and teaching assistant in Microbiology for Engineers.

Kalyani has strong fundamentals as a researcher which is proven in her research productivity. She is also a coauthor to two peer reviewed journal publications and first author on a paper submitted to the Biochemical Engineering Journal. In addition, Kalyani has strong conference presentation skills as demonstrated during the previous Annual Reviews and the liaison meeting held earlier this year.
