Broadening Participation
The JUMP 2.0 Program is dedicated to inspiring students interested in pursuing education and careers in semiconductor sciences. Today’s semiconductor companies are embracing diverse talent, recognizing that different perspectives and experiences can lead to novel ideas and innovative solutions to complex problems. When individuals from diverse backgrounds collaborate, they bring unique insights and approaches that can spark creativity and drive innovation. Broadening Participation in JUMP 2.0 promotes a diverse performer base through a solicitation and selection process that attracts and emphasizes inclusion of performers at all tiers who are new to the program; we recognize that many new and innovative research ideas come from early-career faculty, and we strive to include these new performers in our program. Of equal importance, Broadening Participation in JUMP 2.0 seeks to broaden the semiconductor pipeline to meet the demand for a growing semiconductor science and engineering workforce by including more undergraduate students in our research program. Our partnership with NSF to co-sponsor REU Sites for semiconductor research is already resulting in more undergraduates in our program and participating in our flagship TECHCON conference than ever before. We look to continue to build on this momentum to innovate more effectively and build the semiconductor workforce of tomorrow through our broadening participation efforts.
