SRC's longest running program, Global Research Collaboration (GRC)​, is a set of discrete, complementary research programs comprised of design and process semiconductor technology disciplines.

Members, including industry titans and trailblaz​ers from around the world, have invested more than a billion dollars at hundreds of universities worldwide—not only developing essential technology, but creating the future leaders and innovators in the industry. 

Novel Opportunities​​

Breaking ground in new research areas with compelling new initiatives, the Emerging Research Program allows SRC to respond nimbly to new opportunities​ in technology. 

​Automotive Electronics

The transformation of automobiles into safe, dependable, autonomous vehicles has already started with the increasing availability and capabilities of advanced driver-assistance systems today. The Auto research program​ attempts to identify and define the technology required to enable the revolutionary transition from driver assistance to fully autonomous vehicles.

Intelligent Cognitive Assistants

As the relationship between humans and cyber-technology continues to evolve, the interface between cyber-physical systems and humans also needs to evolve. The ICA program will include research in sociology and psychology as well as traditional sciences, engineering and computer science to pave the way for an Intelligent Cognitive Assistant that will have the ability to reason, interact and adapt.

Molecular Information Storage

The world today has an insatiable appetite for data; the resultant storage requirements are massive, necessitating breakthroughs in new storage solutions. The Molecular Information Storage program investigates alternative technologies, such as synthetic polymers, with initial emphasis on DNA storage.

Bioelectronic Medicine​

Lying at the intersection of biology and technology, the Bioelectronic Medicine program explores the fundamental physics and biology of bio-electro-medical microsystems, their integration in practical devices, and application landscapes. Bioelectronic Medicine will supplement or even replace pharmaceuticals as a treatment for injuries and disease.​​​

Extending Moore’s Law Economics​

A remarkable five-year, $300M initiative sponsored by both industry and government partners; research is conducted by the Joint University Microelectronics Program (JUMP) and Nanoelectronic Computing Research (nCORE) program

Sponsors and university participants have built a robust, cross-disciplinary community that creates solutions by co-optimizing throughout the design stack, from End Applications to Fundamental Materials. JUMP is driven by systems-inspired research that creates next generation hardware, while nCORE focuses on novel devices, materials, and manufacturing techniques that will revolutionize computing and communications.
