2011

SRC programs grow in new and important dimensions.

Highlights

  • SRC launches a partnership this year with new GRC participant, Abu Dhabi's Advanced Technology Investment Corporation (ATIC), to create new university research efforts that will accelerate semiconductor infrastructure development in the region. These research efforts are, of course, intended to be broadly relevant to all SRC member needs, and can involve the participation of universities around the globe.
  • NRI initiates a benchmarking effort to evaluate emerging devices with potential to extend performance beyond CMOS for classical information processing applications.
  • FCRP's formation of cross-disciplinary centers—to holistically address key technology areas—demonstrates exceptional value.
  • Energy Research Initiative (ERI), SRC's newest research program, expands its membership and becomes self-sustaining.
  • Student participation in SRC programs is at an all-time high, with SRC supporting about 1500 active advanced degree students through industry-guided research contracts. In SRC's first three decades, more than 9000 students—the world's brightest and best—have contributed to the SRC research portfolio. More than 60% of SRC graduates remain in the SRC member or research community following graduation.
Innovative experiment turned profound success, SRC continues to make a difference.
