Local power outage takes SRC off the air
SRC's website, phones, and email were offline for several hours starting early Wednesday afternoon following a power outage in the area. According to Duke Entergy, the power outage resulted from a vehicle striking a power pole. The outage affected a number of businesses in the area for several hours.
After the power was restored, SRC discovered a problem with the disk array that serves critical servers. Fixing that required an overnight effort by an SRC engineer working with multiple levels of IBM technical support.
All systems were back online as of 6 AM ET. Some queued-up email may have been delayed in reaching SRC staff.
