GRC Researcher Awarded 2014 ITHERM Achievement Award
GRC researcher, Prof. Dereje Agonafer from the University of Texas at Arlington, was awarded the prestigious 2014 ITHERM Achievement Award from the international ITHERM conference. This award is only presented every other year, and is awarded to individuals who have “made significant contributions in the field of thermal and mechanical management of electronics.” Prof. Agonafer is leading a new IPS research task, custom-funded by TI, to develop predictive models for board level reliability issues due to component thermal expansion mismatch.

University of Minnesota Professor Sachin Sapatnekar Honored for Excellence in Semiconductor Research
On March 5, 2014, University of Minnesota’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Sachin Sapatnekar received the SIA University Research Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions and trailblazing work in the field of semiconductor research. The Award Citation reads: “Prof. Sapatnekar’s research has made significant impact in verifying and optimizing the power delivery networks of CPUs and other SoCs. Analysis techniques developed by Prof. Sapatnekar and his research group have dramatically advanced this capability in the design community.” This SIA University Researcher Award citation represents very well SRC’s, SIA’s and the general semiconductor industry’s overall view of the value of Dr. Sapatnekar’s SRC-supported research.
