Overview
The Non-Classical CMOS Research Center is led by University of California/Santa Barbara and consists of five universities collaborating as one research center to develop and exploit a new class of semiconductor materials, stretching silicon to its ultimate performance as CMOS.
Research Focus
This research will focus on "stretching" the performance of silicon in complementary metal oxide semiconductors, or CMOS. The researchers are seeking to improve the performance of silicon chips with what it calls non-classical materials. These materials include chemical elements found in the third and fifth columns of chemistry periodical tables, thus the term III-V compounds.
Center Management
Overall leadership and management of the Non-Classical CMOS Research Center is the responsibility of Dr. Mark Rodwell at the University of California/Santa Barbara
